40th Anniversary

Swindon’s railway works... where history was made, where generations built, repaired, and maintained trains for nearly 150 years, ceased operations 40 years ago.

In 1985, the closure was announced, and workers began departing in February 1986, though some workers remained to help wind down operations yp to two years afterwards.

THURSDAY 26TH MARCH will see a special annivesary event taking place at STEAM in Swindon. More details to follow.
