The mighty oak tree has been an important symbol throughout history, playing a prominent role in mythology, religion, and literature. Symbolism in Greek, Christianity, and Celtic mythology, as well as its associations with fertility, abundance, protection, and strength.

 

The "King's Oak" planted as one of 80, representing the 80th anniversary of the end of world war three, by Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire Shirley Ludford on 15th November. The tree first presented to the public during the VE Day event at Lydiard in June.
