Promoting The Arts
Exhibitions to Arty Debate
WORKS from Swindon’s important collection of modern art will be on display during Heritage Open Days.
Some exhibits from the borough council’s collection will be on view at the Health Hydro, Central Community Centre and the Railway Village Museum which will all be open on Saturday and Sunday.
At the Health Hydro in Milton Road, modern paintings and studio ceramics from the Swindon Collection will respond to the Heritage Open Days theme ‘Edible England’.
Meanwhile, a series of eight artworks by Swindon artist Frank Quinton, from the collections at Swindon Museum and Art Gallery and Steam Museum, will be brought together for the first time at the Central Community Centre in Emlyn Square.
The Railway Village Museum at 34 Faringdon Road which already displays heritage collections from Swindon Museum and Art Gallery, will welcome the addition of Charles White’s charming painting Facades of the Railway Village.
WWF, the World Wildlife Fund, is calling Swindon artists to take part in their new project, ‘Just Imagine’, where local artists can show their ideal vision of a greener and healthier future and their hopes for positive change in how we handle the current climate crisis. Inspired by David Attenborough’s “A Life On Our Planet”, this project aims to put together an exhibition to be shown in November. The first workshop takes place on Sunday 26th September.
